Shirley Ann Smith (Harris), age 79, of Arlington, Texas, She was born in Dallas Texas, June 25, 1936 and passed away, Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Kindred LTC in Arlington, Texas. She was born to Cora Frances Tommie and Benjamin Franklin Harris. She was the youngest of thirteen children. She met the love of her life at Texas State Fair in 1953, Shirley and Ted Smith married April 3, 1954. Shirley was a military homemaker for 30 years. She became alicensed hairdresser in 1969-1975. Went to Germany for 3 years and relocated to Winton CA where she was a Social Worker. After Ted’s retirement from the Air Force they moved to Garland Texas in February of 1990. She opened her own catering & cleaning businesses until 2001. Shirley was a member of the Audubon Baptist Church. She loved spending time with family and friends. Some of her favorite hobbies were bowling, playing cards and bingo. She loved her volunteer work at the Dallas VA & the Lone Star Chapter, Paralyzed Veterans of America. She was a member of the Foresters.She is survived by her daughter Frances Williams and spouse Les Gibbins, 3 sons Ted Smith Jr. and spouse Robyn Smith, Tim Smith, Greg Smith and spouse Karen Smith. Brother Bill Harris and spouse Kathy Harris, 21 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild along with various nieces and nephews, also her best friend Hazel Ferris and many other friends.She is preceded in death by her husband Robert T Smith Sr. (Ted), her mother Cora, father Benjamin Franklin, 4 sisters, Ora, Lura, Maxine & Geraldine) and 7 brothers (Bernard, Homer, Paul, Eli, Tom, Olin & Jim) She will be loved and missed by all who knew her. She touched many lives during her time here on earth.
