Sarah Louise Sims Chandler passed away August 25, 2015 in Frisco, Texas at the age of 87. Sarah attended school in Streetman, Texas and was Valedictorian of the Class of 1944. Growing up Sarah was always her Mother’s sidekick, helping with Gardening, Raising of Turkeys, Quilting, Tatting, Crochet, Knitting, and Cooking. For the last twenty years she was known as the potholder Lady. Her greatest enjoyment was making and giving away Potholders. Her husband Tom Chandler returned from WWII in 1945 and swept her off her feet. They were married in Dallas in 1946, their first son Ronnie arrived in April 1947 in Corsicana, Texas. Their second son Lyle arrived in July 1948 in Waco, Texas. Tom spent four years at Baylor University and graduated in 1951 and they moved to Dallas. Sarah, in 1951 took a temporary job which began her thirty-two years with DECASR. After retirement Sarah joined BPW of OakCliff, Antique Study Group, Literature Luncheon, and OakCliff Rejebian Book Club. Tom and Sarah own a ranch in Wortham, raising cattle and huge gardens, while sharing their bounty with all their neighbors. Sarah is survived by her sons Ronnie Chandler, and Lyle Chandler and Wife Brenda, Grandchildren Jason Chandler, Brian Hall, and Sherrill Deering and Families, Sister Virginia White, Nephew Ted Glazener and Wife Dru, Shirley Gee and Family, and a Host of Nieces, Nephews and Friends.
