Ruth Sims, age 88 of Dallas, passed away on March 28, 2016. She was born on December 19, 1927 in the small town of Bogata, Texas, the daughter of Boss and Lora Suggs. It was there that she met Leland Sims who moved there from Tennessee.
After graduation, he enlisted in the Navy and just three days shy of turning 17, Ruth rode a train to New York to get married in 1944. After being discharged from the service, they moved to Paris, Texas, where they worked and went to college. In 1950, they settled in Dallas to live and raise their children. Ruth retired from JC Penney in 1989. She has always been a faithful member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church since moving to Dallas. They were married 65 years before Leland passed away in 2010. Ruth enjoyed playing bingo and visiting with her friends and family.
Ruth is survived by her children Robert Sims and wife Renae of Allen, Debbie Dawson and husband Dwain of Royse City, David Sims and wife Jackie of Dallas; grandchildren Ashley Boylan and husband Shawn of Wylie, Chris White and wife Jocelyn of Royse City, Bryan Sims and wife Lindsy of Wylie, Andrew Sims of Dallas, Jennifer Sims and Jacob Fenley of Rowlett, Erin Sims and Blake Barrett of Salina, Kansas; great grandchildren Cole, Ella, Ethan, Alexa, Mallory, Andrea, Leland, Bailey, Hayden, Brynlee, and Bryson.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until the time of service. Interment will follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park.
