Rockwall, Texas. He was born on September 12, 1940, in New Roads, Louisiana, to the
late Wardell Young and Mary Smith. Robert was raised in New Roads and graduated
from Rosenwald High School.
In his early years, Robert married the love of his life, Rose Marie Williams, and together
they raised four children. He was a dedicated business owner and also served as a
maintenance man at a local school. His strong work ethic and commitment to providing
for his family were evident throughout his life.
Robert had a vibrant personality and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He
had a passion for playing cards, dominoes, and shooting pool. In addition to his
recreational activities, Robert found fulfillment in serving others. He dedicated his time
to teaching the Gospel at a nursing home, leading Sunday School classes, and
facilitating Bible studies. He served many years as an Elder at the House of Prayer Word
Outreach.
Affectionately known as "Totsie," Robert was a proud Cajun with a boisterous voice and
a contagious energy. He was known for his loud laughter and his unwavering faith in
God.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Smith and Wardell Young, his brothers
Henry Young, Wardell Young, and Larry Smith, his sister Bell Young, and his
granddaughter Commanisha Richardson.
Robert is survived by his children: Andrea Parker (spouse Jeffery Parker), LaTonia Price
(spouse Dennis Price), Robert Young Jr., and Rochelle Johnson; his grandchildren:
Robert Bowman Jr., Adrienne Moses (spouse Gilbert Moses), Steven Hudson, Juwan
Parker, Mecca Parker, Myia Price, and Kiara Young; and his great-grandchildren: Jemarie
Richardson, Kiarra Richardson, Joella Moses, and Jaselle Moses. He is also survived by
a host of cousins, friends, and other loved ones.
Robert "Totsie" Jimmy Young will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his
community, and his faith. His life exemplified the transformative power of faith and
forgiveness, as he was a testament to the possibility of personal growth and
redemption. Through his actions and words, he touched the lives of many, leaving
behind a lasting impact that will be cherished for generations to come.
A visitation for Robert will be held Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at House of Prayer Word Outreach, 4209 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228. A celebration of life will occur Friday, February 16, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, 4209 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228. A committal will occur Friday, February 16, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228.
