Robert “Bob” Richard Shaw passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 30, 2021, in Plano, TX. He was born on October 2, 1941, to the late Robert and Caroline (Fortgang) Shaw in Jamaica, New York. He grew up in Valley Stream, New York, where he graduated from Central High School in 1959. He then graduated from Iowa Wesleyan University in 1963 where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and met the love of his life, Judith Ann Spicer. They were married on January 3, 1965, in Iowa City, Iowa.
Bob and Judy lived in St Louis, Houston, Austin, Plano and spent 4 wonderful years in Ottawa, Canada. He was a computer executive in sales and management for Univac, Intel, Wang, Motorola and Wind River.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Judy Shaw; his children Karen Shaw (Kirk) Joseph, Kelly Shaw and Steven (Nancy) Shaw; his 6 grandchildren Caroline Joseph (Kyle) Kelly, Connor and Catherine Joseph; Sophie, Logan and Landon Shaw, and great granddaughters Charlotte and Lucy Kelly. His sisters Maureen Shaw (Dave) Walker, Jean Hiter (Dale) Smith, his sister-in-law Marty Hiter and many loving extended family members.
Bob had a wonderful sense of humor that will be missed by everyone that met him. He had a tremendous gift of making everyone feel valued and important. He enjoyed work where he was known by many as “the Senator” for his wisdom and stature. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He enjoyed working, golfing, reading, watching sports, attending Aggie football, traveling, keeping up with every aspect of his children’s and grandchildren’s lives, and spending time with family and friends. In his last year battling lung cancer and other lung diseases, he continued to live full of life and love as his understanding of God’s promises grew. It was evident by his long prayer list of others battling cancer, daily devotionals, continued sense of humor, positive attitude and hope for his future.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s memory to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. https://app.mobilecause.com/vf/PFFTribute/RobertShaw
