Rita Therese Montgomery

Rita Therese Montgomery, 94, of Dallas, TX, passed away on March 23, 2021. She was born on July 23, 1926 in Worcester, MA. Rita graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Worcester, and then received a BS in Nursing from American University in Washington D.C. She married the love of her life, Robert Montgomery on June 23, 1951.

Rita worked as a nurse is several doctor’s offices and hospitals across the US. As Robert’s military career took them to many cities, Rita loved traveling in the US and internationally. Rita was a long-time member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, where she loved to volunteer whenever help was needed. Also at the church she was a member of the Altar Society, and she made baptismal garments for the babies. She loved to paint, sew and knit. Rita had a passion for animals, and loved her Boxers and other dogs as her children.

Rita is survived by her husband of 69 years, Robert Montgomery; niece, Carolyn Terrien; niece, Joan Miller; nephew, Joseph Miller; nephew, Paul Ryan and wife Colleen; along with the rest of the Ryan family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Michilana Borowik Miller and Joseph Miller; sisters, Sophie Pruszynski and Helen Kowalski; and brothers, Joseph Miller and Victor Miller.

A visitation will be at Sparkman-Crane on Monday, March 29 at 6:30pm, followed by a rosary at 7:30pm. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, March 30 at 2:00pm at St. Thomas Aquinas. Rita will be laid to rest on Tuesday, April 6 at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery at 2:15pm.
