Richard Garnica Jr., age 70, passed away on Thursday, January 19,2023 in Dallas, Texas. Richard “Todd” was born on June 1, 1952, in Dallas, Texas to Richard and Chonita Garnica. Todd was raised in Dallas and attended Holy Trinity Catholic School and graduated from Jesuit College Preparatory of Dallas. Todd was married to Andrea Schatz until her passing and together they loved and raised his nephew John David as a son. He worked as a supervisor for the railroad system for several years and later worked alongside his brother Ruben in the concrete business following in the footsteps of their father.
Todd enjoyed fast cars, riding his Harley Davidson, shooting pool, cooking out and most of all he enjoyed spending time with his dear friend, Meg and his three sweet dogs, Alfie, Bella, and Bebe. We’ll always remember Todd’s beautiful smile and wit. His sense of humor brought a smile to us even in his last days. Todd loved his parents Richard and Chonita, his brothers Ruben, Mario and John and sister Kathy, his dear friend Meg, nieces, and nephews dearly. We will forever remember his strength of character as he navigated his battle with dementia to the very end. We will never forget Todd’s determination to work, take care of his dogs and his relentless perseverance to remain independent despite his circumstances. In the midst of his storm, which after all, is when we find out who we really are, Todd rose to the occasion. We are so very proud of him and how he handled the unexpected changes that came his way. The sincere love that illuminates the true nature of this beautiful man, our brother Todd, whom we loved, will forever remain in our hearts, and he will be dearly missed.
Todd is preceded in death by his father, Richard Garnica Sr., mother, Chonita Esparza Garnica and his wife Andrea Schatz.
