Refugio “Joe” Acosta joined his Father, Our God, and his loving wife on Tuesday, August 28th, 2018. Born on February 28th, 1932, in Corsicana, Texas. Preceded in death by father, Benardo Acosta and mother, Josephina Granado Acosta, sisters; Trinia Aleman and Carmen Martinez, and his wife of 63 years, Elvira Acosta.
Refugio married the love of his life, Elvira Santoya on May 13th, 1951, and were blessed with five beautiful children. Joe successfully owned and operated ‘Joe Acosta Nursery’ off Royal Lane in Dallas from 1970 until retirement, where they then moved to Red Oak, Texas in 2005. He loved his family deeply and enjoyed all the family gatherings. His hobbies included the ‘Dallas Cowboys’, hunting, fishing, slot machines, and “treasure hunting”.
Refugio is survived by four sons and a daughter: Joe & Betty Acosta of Kaufman, TX, Jesse & Susie Acosta of Dallas, TX, Julian & Kim Acosta of Flower Mound, TX, Maria & Glen Ebert of Waxahachie, TX, and Richard & Dewina Acosta of Frisco, TX.
His ten grandchildren include: Josie Bajorek (husband Ron), Joseph Acosta Jr., Jesse Acosta Jr (wife Melissa), Jacob Acosta, Austin Acosta, Callie Acosta (fiancé Carlos Bonilla), Victoria Acosta, Rick Acosta, Andrew Acosta, and Amber Acosta.
Great-Grandchildren include: Joey & Catherine Acosta, Noah & Luke Bajorek, Jacob, Marisa, & Juliana Acosta.
His siblings include: Brothers, Lee Acosta (wife Lydia) of Dallas, TX, Jimmy Acosta of Sarasota, FL, Ben Acosta (wife Shirley) of Irving, TX, and sister Chello Huron (husband Mike) of Powell, TX.
