Patricia Joan Hill

Patricia was born in Dallas, Texas on December 28,1934, to Anson and Jewell Bierhalter. She graduated from Adamson High School in Dallas.

Patricia was married to James Houston Duncan Jr. of Dallas and they had a son, James Bradley Duncan, and a daughter, Karen Denise Duncan Harvard. In 1961 Patricia and Johnson Turk Hill married and later had a daughter Cynthia Joanne Hill. Patricia is preceded in death by her father and mother, Anson and Jewell Bierhalter and many other family and friends. She is survived by her son, Brad Duncan of Lantana,Florida, her daughter, Karen Duncan Harvard and husband Tim Harvard of Aledo, and daughter Cynthia Hill of Anna. Also, her brother Byron Bierhalter and his wife Betty Bierhalter of Athens. She has six grandchildren; Cory Harvard, and wife Nora, Caroline Harvard Hopkins and husband Nick, Andrew Harvard, Anson Wilson and wife Lauren, Gardner Wilson, and Abraham Wilson. She is also survived by two great grandchildren, Denver Wilson and Ruby Wilson.

Patricia was a stay-at-home and loving mother to her three children for much of their young lives. After moving to McKinney, she opened the Blue Cupboard Tea Room in downtown McKinney on Tennessee Street where many would frequent her beautiful and tasty home-cooked meals. She also owned a fabric store next door. Later in life she had several jobs including her last job where she was an event coordinator for Price Waterhouse. Once again she used her talent of orchestrating food and design before retiring.

Patricia will be remembered for her love and talent of remodeling and decorating old homes, including two in downtown McKinney. She was a member of First Baptist Church and a member of the Owl Club of McKinney. For the last 33 years she remodeled her parents lake house where she worked tireless hours gardening and making her house a beautiful unique home. Patricia was always involved in her three kids' lives. Whether she helped paint, iron clothes, plant flowers, or take care of her grandkids, she was ready with a selfless and giving heart. She traveled to Florida many times to spend time on the water with her son Brad, and loved the road trips they took together. Several years ago Cynthia and Karen along with Caroline (Karen & Tim‘s daughter) took Patricia to France for 10 days and she felt as if she had died and gone to heaven. She loved the beautiful gardens there and came home to continue to work on landscaping her yard and enjoying her beautiful flowers.

The family would like to thank Brenda Chumbley for the dedication and love she gave Patricia for the last seven years of her life. Without Brenda, Patricia would not have been able to continue to live in her much loved home over the last few years. There was nothing Brenda wouldn’t do to make sure she was happy and safe in the place that meant so much to her. Our heartfelt thanks for her constant devotion and care.

Patricia was a loving, caring, simple, yet elegant woman with a big heart that enjoyed being with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed here on earth but no doubt had a welcoming committee to take her into heaven.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 at Grove Hill Memorial Funeral Home followed immediately by a graveside service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Patricia’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
