Nancy L. Dyer

She is preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, John William Dyer; her daughter Susan Dyer Booles (Gary) of Fort Worth; and her sister Lucille Marie Sheridan Wilborn of Kansas City, MO.

Her survivors include sons John Leo Dyer (Patty) of Vienna, VA and Patrick Joseph Dyer (Jean) of Missouri City, TX and her daughters; Nancy Dyer Hougland (William) of Huntsville, AL; Mary Dyer Young of Dallas, TX; Eileen Dyer Vogel (William) of Duncanville, TX; Monica Dyer Keglovits (David) of Irving, TX; Margaret Dyer Beeler (Gerald) of Katy, TX; Catherine Dyer Rolater (Richard) of Bartlett, TN and Barbara Louise Dyer of Dallas, TX.

She has 34 grandchildren and 51 great grandchildren.

Nancy was a longtime member of St. James Catholic Church and St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, both in Dallas.

Nancy was the second daughter of Leo Alonzo Sheridan and Marie Carmelite Guignon of Kansas City, Mo. Her older sister was Lucille Marie Wilborn also of Kansas City.

Nancy was a child of The Depression, who lived through 16 U. S. presidents, World War II, Korea, Vietnam and the recent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Nancy married John William Dyer of Boston, (Sommerville) MA in Feb. of 1945 following a very brief courtship due to World War II. John, a minor league baseball player and a Catholic as well, told her he wanted a baseball team of children. Barbara, the youngest of the ten children, was a bonus.

As an Army wife she moved frequently and lived in Virginia, California, Texas and Japan and France.

She was a devout Catholic who loved her husband, her kids, and whatever cat or dog the family had at the time. For most of her life, she was a daily communicant and when health and age got the best of her, she watched The Mass on her favorite cable channel, EWTN.

She loved a good Chardonnay, a good dirty martini, she loved Hawaii, she loved a good laugh. She loved reading, mostly biographies, always non-fiction. She always enjoyed being with her family and it was rare that she wasn't invited to join the fun.

She will be deeply missed by her children, her extended family and many close friends and acquaintances.Her strong faith was an inspiration to all she met. She will be missed, but we know she will continue to smile upon us from heaven.

The Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 8th, 2015 at St. James Catholic Church, 1002 E. Saner,Dallas, TX 75216.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 9, 2015 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, 4015 S. Hampton Road, Dallas, TX 75224.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Nancy's favorite charity, St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Elizabeth of Hungary, 4015 S. Hampton Rd. Dallas, TX 75224.
