Nancy Martin Dwelle

Nancy Martin Dwelle was born in Corpus Christi, TX to James A. Martin, MD and Enis Agnes (Frankie) Martin July 5, 1946. She passed away Sunday, August 21, 2016.

Her family moved to Dallas where her father continued the radiology practice established by his grandfather, James Madison Martin, MD, and father, Charles L. Martin, MD, who are credited as being instrumental in the history of the Department of Radiology at Baylor University Medical Center.

She began her education in Dallas and graduated from Highland Park High School and from the University of Texas at Austin where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She later taught for the Garland Independent School District.

Nancy moved to Athens, TX in 1971 with her then husband where she lived until 2008 when she moved to Frisco, TX. While in Athens she taught classes at St. Edwards Catholic Church and was the driving force to establish a parent organization for the Christian Pre School. She was also active in the Athens Jayceettes and continued voice studies, an avocation in which she was gifted. In 2005 she became an English teacher at Athens High School.

When in Frisco she continued her involvement with the Catholic Church and worked for the Frisco Independent School District where she served as a counselor and teacher. She later moved to Plano.

Nancy took great pride in her sons and enjoyed sharing with others stories of their lives and accomplishments.

She would want to be remembered as being beautiful (and she was), smart, funny, an excellent teacher, and a fierce advocate for her children. She was a dreamer, an open-minded encourager, but could also be very critical and had high expectations for herself and those around her. She was a very hard worker and an excellent project manager.

Nancy is survived by two sons: Jeff Dwelle and wife, Elizabeth, of Plano; and by Richard Dwelle, and wife, Caryn, of Dubai, United Arab Emirates; and two grandsons, Dax and Dillon Dwelle, both of Plano. Additionally, she is survived by two sisters: Margie Billups, Dallas, and Diane Grant, Hutto near Austin.

Memorials may be made to Autism Speaks or to the charity of one’s choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Calvary Hill Funeral Home, Dallas, TX. Funeral services will be held privately.
