In his early years, he received his formal education in Kilgore County Schools. At age 13, he moved to Dallas with his family where he professed his faith in Christ and joined the Full Gospel Holy Temple Church under the leadership of the late Apostle Lobias Murray and married the love of his life, Sharon at 18 years old. He was also a member of the Full Gospel Harmonizers. 32 years ago, he joined the Faith Kingdom Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Superintendent Charles E. Craig. He loved God and loved helping people.
Brother Walker earned his high school Diploma from Wilmer Hutchins High School in Dallas County. He had many trades. Brother Walker worked at Winzer Corporation for 14 years as an industry equipment supplier. He worked annually at the State Fair of Texas in various capacities, The Science Place Museum in the Security and Loss Prevention Department, Adams Mark Hotel & The Sheraton Hotel in the Security Department and David’s Place Head Start in the Facilities Management Department. He also worked alongside his wife in their personal businesses, M & S Business Services, Income Tax and Financial Services Company and in the family catering business. In between all of these jobs, Brother Walker managed to work part-time at Children’s Palace Toy Store for many years. He provided his six children with the best memories!
Brother Walker was loved by so many people, not just his immediate family. He took his children on the best family vacations. He had the biggest smile and most positive attitude. He was not confrontational. He dealt with situations with a calm mind and Godly demeanor. He opened his home to others when they needed help. He was a strong family man and an amazing example of what is means to show kindness and unconditional love for all. Even after his death, he will continue to give as he was registered organ donor.
God saw fit to call Brother Walker home from labor to reward on August 17, 2023 in Dallas, Texas. He is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Mrs. Sharon Lynn Boyd-Walker, his father Mr. J.B. Walker, his stepfather, Mr. Arthur Branch, Sr. his mother, Mrs. Clemmie Branch; sisters, Sheila Jackson and Linda Scott and brothers James King and Lonnie Scott. He is survived by his four sons, Oric Walker, Sr.(Omega), Michael Walker, Jr. (Chanta), Najarus Walker (Christine) and Anwar Walker; daughters, Remica Thomas and Dr. Etinne Walker; brother, Arthur Branch, Jr; sisters, Regina Coleman (Calvin), Lisa Dixon, Patricia Nichlos, Theresa Johnson and Juanita Godfrey; his grandchildren, Shaylah, Oric, Jr., Zahria, Jerzi, Meshaela, Skylar, Caleb, Omari, James, Vincent, DeAris, O’Neicia and O’Neethia; his great grandchildren, De’Lahni, Donte III, Syrus and A’layah, and host of other relatives, friends, and honorary sons and daughters.
