Mary (Bludau) Murphy of Dallas, passed away on March 22, 2021, surrounded by loving family and friends. She was born in Hallettsville, Texas on April 10, 1938, to Andres and Annie (Friesenhahn) Bludau.
Mary was one of six girls in a family of eleven. She attended Sacred Heart Church and graduated Sacred Heart School in 1956 where she was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
After graduating, Mary moved to Austin, TX where she met Francis A. Murphy, Jr., known as Tobey, who persuaded her to marry him after only one month of dating. They ultimately settled in Dallas and enjoyed the next 56 years together, raising three children, and eventually welcoming seven grandchildren. As anyone who met Mary knew, she was a devout Catholic, and spent many years enjoying her work at Sacred Heart Catholic Books and Gifts. While living in Dallas, Mary and her family were founding, and long-time members, of All Saints Catholic Church. Her grandchildren treasured her cooking and loved her pancakes almost as much as they loved her.
Later in life Mary devoted her time to the things that made her the happiest. Mary was very close to her sisters and enjoyed regular travels and adventures with them. She was a member of St. Anne’s Circle, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and Empty Nesters through All Saints Catholic Church. She spent time volunteering her time at the Church and quilting. She made many quilts for her friends and family and each grandbaby received their own lovingly made quilt. She was always happy in her garden, having her hands in the ground and nurturing the most beautiful and colorful flowers God had to offer.
Mary is survived by: her husband Tobey, her children, Dawn Butler (Kurt) of Baker, FL, Ruth Myers of Prosper, TX, and Francis Murphy (Christy) of Wichita, KS, seven grandchildren Samantha, Brendan, Alexandra, William, Maddy, Henry and Molly. Brothers, Frank Bludau (Bernadette) and Winfred ‘Wink’ Bludau (Ida) both of Hallettsville, TX; sister, Sister Bernarda Bludau of Victoria, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by: her parents; three brothers, Leroy, Ervin, and James Bludau; six sisters, Lillian Besetzny, Delrose Sandelovic, Marcella Janak, Irene Knebel and infants Mildred and Rosalyn Bludau.
