She was born October 14, 1922, in Cassville, Missouri, to the late Key and Margaret Browning. She graduated from the University of Arkansas where she met and married the late Charles M Cook. After graduation, they moved to Carthage, Missouri, where they were happily married for 59 years. She worked as a teacher and Jasper County Public Administrator. She is survived by three children, Chuck Cook of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Martha Anderson of Dallas, Texas and Laura Harrington of Lynnfield, Massachusetts and one daughter-in-law Norma Cook and two son-in-laws Dennis Boyd and John Harrington. In addition she is survived by 5 grandchildren: Charles Albritton Cook, John Hobbs Cook , William Noe Cook, John Charles Staggs and David Weston Anderson: three great grandchildren Avery, Zoe and Betty Grace Cook and one great-great grandchild, Cheston Tyler Carmen.
Brownie was involved in many activities: PEO, The Chi Omega Sorority, The Bridge and Shakespeare Club. She was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of Carthage. Her interests were varied and she and Charles enjoyed traveling the world. Those of us that knew her will never forget how sweet and kind she was and how lucky we were to have her love in our lives.
Graveside services will be handled by Knell Mortuary, Carthage, Missouri, on November 16, 2019 at 2pm at Fullerton Cemetery. Memorial gifts can be sent to the First Presbyterian Church, 115 West Chestnut Street, Carthage, Missouri.
