Marion Via Jackson

Marion V. Jackson, 79, of University Park, Texas, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She will always be remembered as a very giving and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend by all who knew and loved her.

Marion was born June 16, 1933 to Roy Daniel and Beatrice Tabor Via in Bartlett, Texas. Marion enjoyed extensive worldwide travel appreciating the different cultures, peoples and foods that she encountered. She was involved in thoroughbred horse breeding and racing and that became a love of her life. She moved and set up homes in multiple places including Venezuela, Dallas and Richardson, Houston, Lexington, Kentucky, from which sprang many lifelong friendships, and finally Dallas where she remained for her final 29 years. Through the years and moves and varied cultures she developed a passion for formal entertaining and cooking and this she did extensively and joyfully. Through her travels, especially in England, Marion developed a great appreciation for and knowledge of antiques. Shopping for Georgian antiques became a passion and that developed into annual sojourns to England to shop and attend antique fairs with dear friends. Of course her favorite pastime ever was being with family and taking care of them and loving them so very much. Above all, however, was her love and trust in her savior, Jesus Christ. Marion was a devout believer with trust and faith in God’s plan of salvation for all who accept Jesus as God’s way for forgiveness of sins and disobedience.

Survivors include her high school sweetheart and husband of almost 57 years Mr. J. L. Jackson Jr. of University Park, Texas, her sister, Janelle McKown, of Austin, Texas, her son and daughter, and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. at Park Cities Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 with Rev. Dr. Luder Whitlock and Rev. Dr. Skip Ryan officiating.
