Maria Del Rosario Aviles

During the early months of 2016, Maria del Rosario Aviles began a vigorous battle with cancer. Her journey, since then, was full of moments of joy and some of pain. One thing was certain: she was not giving up without a fight. For almost two years, she continued fighting. Her final days were spent at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Carrollton, Texas. It was here where she held on to life as long as she could before peacefully passing early Friday morning on October 20th, 2017. On March 17th, 1957, inside a humble home located in the center of West Dallas, Manuel De La Rosa and Maria del Refugio Ortiz gave the gift of life to Maria. It was here she called home with her five sisters and six brothers. In 1989, she married Reynaldo (Ronnie) Aviles, with whom she raised 3 children. Maria had many titles in her lifetime: daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend. She served others through her work as a telephone operator, nurse, assistant and volunteer. However diverse her titles were, there was always one constant: her dedication to service. Maria was devoted in giving herself not only to others, but, more importantly, to God. Anyone who has known Maria intimately will have no problem reminiscing of a time where she acted selflessly. It was through her acts of altruism where she taught others how to emulate God’s love for us. Maria was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel & Maria del Refugio De La Rosa, her brothers, Rigoberto De La Rosa, Catarino De La Rosa and Catarino De La Rosa Jr. She is survived by her husband Reynaldo Aviles of 28 years, her sons, Oliver Aviles and Reynaldo Aviles and her daughter Veronica Aviles. She is also survived by her sisters, Evelia Camarillo (Greg), Gloria Magaña (Evaristo), Maria Guadalupe Salazar, Juanita Camacho (Jesus) and Guadalupe Veronica Carrillo (Tony), her brothers Ventura De La Rosa (Dorothy), Juan De La Rosa and Rudolfo De La Rosa (Julia) and numerous nieces and nephews. Her life will be celebrated in two parts: On Tuesday October 24th, 2017, Gonzalez Funeral Home of Dallas will graciously host a special viewing between the hours of 12:00pm-4:00pm. This will be followed by a commemorative rosary held at her local parish, St. Mary of Carmel, at precisely 6:00pm. On Wednesday October 25th, 2017, St. Mary of Carmel will host a ceremonial service celebrating the life and the love that Maria has given us starting at 10:00am. Afterwards, a procession will lead attendees to Calvary Hill Cemetery where Maria will be physically laid to rest. Spiritually, she will always be with us. Attendees are encouraged to honor Maria’s memory by wearing shades of pink or green.
