Mack Pogue

Mack Pogue was born on May 18, 1934 in Sulphur Springs, TX to the late James Alfred and Llewellyn Stinson Pogue. Mack had two siblings, the late Lou Jane Umphress and his twin brother Jack Pogue. The family lived in Sulphur Springs, TX where Mack’s father ran a cotton gin, which provided many good times for he and his brother Jack watching the cotton trucks roll in. At age 11, he got his early start in business and finance with his early morning newspaper deliveries where he advised his customers to pay in advance to save themselves money and save himself time collecting.

Mack attended Tyler Junior College prior to serving 21 months in the US Army in Korea between 1955 and 1957, and he earned his degree from Texas Tech University in 1959. On February 4, 1960, Mack married his high school sweetheart, the former Jean McMullan, with whom he created a lifetime of family memories. He was devoted to Jean and very proud of his hometown life partner.

He had several early jobs including as a high school football coach and a sewing machine salesman before he found his destiny in real estate. He became a real estate broker with Majors and Majors in Dallas in 1961. It was through this job that he met his mentor, Trammell Crow. Mack formed Lincoln Property Company in 1965 with Trammell as his first partner. It was a lifelong association that Mack cherished both professionally and personally.

Mack and Jean had three sons, and he shared a unique interest with each of them. Mack’s son Blake formed his own successful real estate company of which Mack was very proud. Mack and his son Brent assembled a historic numismatic coin collection. And, Mack and his son Blair had much success with their shared interest in investing. Mack loved traveling with family and friends. He cherished family get-togethers, and “Big Mack” was adored by his 9 grandchildren and great grandson. Also, he enjoyed coffee in the mornings and an occasional afternoon card game with his buddies at Dallas Country Club.

In addition to his family, Mack was uncommonly loved and respected by his partners. He will not only be remembered for his success in real estate all across the U.S. and in Europe for over 58 years, but also for the way he conducted his business. There was a lifelong dedication to the company, his partners, and his employees. In spite of his great success, he remained very humble and appreciative of all those who helped him on the journey.

Mack will be deeply missed and never forgotten by the many whose lives he touched and whose lives were made better by being associated with him personally, professionally, and through his quiet generosity.

We would like to thank all the longtime caregivers and nurses that provided so much love and care for Mack.

Mack is predeceased by his parents, sister and beloved son, Brent Pogue. Mack is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jean Pogue; his brother Jack Pogue; his sons Blake (Anne) Pogue and Blair (Cristin) Pogue; and his grandchildren: Brittney McKee (Matt) and great grandson Hudson, Mack Pogue, Bryson Pogue, Bailey Pogue, Jake Pogue, Tucker Pogue, Reagan Pogue, Ethan Pogue, and Riley Pogue. He also leaves behind nephews whom he was very fond of.

A memorial Service will be held: Tuesday, February 6th at 2:00 p.m. at Park Cities Presbyterian Church. Reception following from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the Dallas Country Club.
