Louise Ferguson McKnight, born Jan. 31, 1924 in Dallas, TX, and passed away Nov. 24, 2010. Preceded in death by mother Allie Ferguson, father Monta R. Ferguson, and husband Rufus N. McKnight, Jr. She earned her Bachelors in music from SMU, Masters in Early Childhood Education from Texas Woman’s University. She was the Orchestra Director at Greiner, Sunset and Winnetka; a 2nd grade teacher at Rosemont Elementary; instructor in violin, Tulsa, OK; Real Estate Agent for Judge Fite Company and Ralph Porter Company. Member of Tyler Street United Methodist Church; memberships include Mu Phi Epsilon and Order of the Eastern Star. Survived by son, Thomas R. McKnight of Holywood, County Down, Northern Ireland and his wife Elizabeth McKnight and their children Katherine McKnight, Beth McKnight Harvey and husband Jack Harvey; daughter Mary McKnight Escobar of Dallas, TX and her husband Alcides Escobar and their children Wesley Escobar and Daniel Escobar; son Monty L. McKnight of Dallas, TX and his wife Debra McKnight and their children Monty McKnight Jr. and Kathryn McKnight. Visitation will be held Sat. 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Tyler Street United Methodist Church, 927 W. 10th St., Dallas, TX, Rev. Ed Lantz, officiating. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tyler Street United Methodist or the American Cancer Society in honor of Louise being a 50 year cancer survivor.
