Mr. Gillespie was a lifetime inspiration to my whole family and me. In those wonderful St. Philip years he was ever present in all things needed for the Church and School. He was one of those we referred to as the "As Usuals" because he was always there whenever work was needed. He always performed in an unsung role. There were so many of these wonderful people at St. Philip back in the day. I know I speak for all my family in saying that it was because of the Gillespies and others like them that we learned to give back to our communities ten-fold. It's what we do. A MIGHTY OAK HAS FALLEN! Lou was our dear friend for so many years -- a vital member of one of the great founding families of St. Phillip Catholic Church. We remember so many good times together and Lou was always the life of the party. His Irish wit and affable demeanor made him everyone's favorite. May our Heavenly Father ease your grief and leave only the cherished memories of his loving ways. You are the best Farther a son could ever have. I spent all of my life working with you. Some sons could only dream of such a thing, This life of mine with you was amazing. I can still see you and Mom Bridget,John, Terry and myself and all of our children down at the lake on our boats docked in the cove,barbecue going having a cold beer and having a grand time.I love you.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of the Gillespie family.  There are so many memories I have of our families spending so much time together when we were growing up!

We are so sorry for your loss. Lou's was a wonderful man and Imoved spending time with him and you all at his Navy reunion. My grandfather Emory Altizer will miss him greatly.
