Linda was an unparalleled family manager, dedicating her life to nurturing and supporting her loved ones. She married her high school sweetheart, Max Allen, in 1959, and together they built a loving home to raise their children. Linda was the quintessential homemaker, always ensuring her family was well cared for, from preparing daily meals to managing the household.
Her passion extended beyond her home to the broader community. Linda was actively involved in her children’s schools, serving on the PTA board, and was a beloved room mom and Girl Scout leader. Her volunteerism was a testament to her generous spirit, always preferring to work behind the scenes.
Linda was also a diehard Cowboy fan. She, along with Max, never missed a game. They had family Cowboy parties, candles and specific clothes. Football season was fun and eventful, with never a dull moment. The Cowboys were their team, but Linda also loved college football. She watched as many games as possible and always followed the standings among the teams. She always said college football players played with heart.
Linda’s talents were many; she was a skilled seamstress, an avid reader, and a craft enthusiast. However, she was best known for her exceptional baking skills, delighting family and friends with her cakes, cookies, and candies.
Linda’s legacy of love and care is carried on by her husband, Max Allen; daughters Karen Burt and Kristi Knox; sons-in-law David Burt and Steve Knox; and granddaughters Kimberly Burt and Megan Simmons, and grandson-in-law Evan Simmons. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and Jack Moore.
A proud alumna of Urban Park Elementary and Woodrow Wilson High School, Linda’s commitment to education and community service was evident throughout her life. She was a faithful member of Urban Park United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Rowlett, where her services will be held at 4405 Main Street, Rowlett, TX 75088.
Grove Hill Funeral Home in Dallas, TX is assisting the family during this time. Linda’s warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her legacy will continue to inspire those she has left behind.
