Lillian Pokladnik Jennings

Lillian Jennings Maxcy, a native of Dallas, died Sunday, March 24, 2019, at the age of 91. Services will be at Sparkman/Hillcrest, 7405 W. Northwest Hwy., Saturday, March 30, 2019; viewing at 11 a.m., service at 12 p.m., followed by a private internment.

Her parents, Emil and Marie Pokladnik, were immigrants from Czechoslovakia. She was born in Dallas on March 17, 1928, and was a graduate of North Dallas High School. She met her husband, Elmo, while working at Sears. Together they opened Jennings Paint and Floor Company and were married for 30 years.

Mrs. Jennings was preceded in death by her parents, her husband J.D. Elmo Jennings, daughter Carolyn Frazier, son Jerry Jennings, great grandson Jackson Cheney, brothers Emil, Frank and Robert Pokladnik and sister Annie Petr. She is survived by daughter Marilyn Cheney and husband John, son Adrian Jennings, daughters-in-law Cynthia Jennings and Michele Jennings, and son-in-law Steve Frazier; seven grandchildren, Audra Jennings, Adam Jennings, Kimberly Hooks, John D. Cheney and wife Aundi, Melissa Polk and husband Aaron, Ryan and Nicole Jennings; and eight great-grandchildren Kaelyn and Kylie Jennings-Beam, Eleanor and Elliott Jennings, Payton Hooks, John Wm and Garrett Cheney, and Dylan Polk, and two sisters Mary Kubin and Martha Frnka.

Lillian was very proud of her Czech heritage and tried to pass on some of the traditions to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Czech S.P.J.S.T. Lodge # 84 and volunteered many hours there.

She traveled all over the world and loved to share her experiences with family and friends. Lillie was also an amazing cook, made the best Kolache ever, and many other traditional Czech foods. Her family always came first to her and she never missed an opportunity to tell them how much she loved and cherished them. She radiated that motherly quality to all around her.
