Kenneth J. Smith

On December 20th of 2011, Kenneth James Smith has retired from this world and starts his new journey into the

Kingdom of Heaven.

An adoring husband of the former Susan Ploesser, a father of four, and a grandfather of seven more, Kenneth was born in Castro Valley, Calfornia on August 14th, 1958.

Upon graduation from Tyler’s TK Gorman High School in 1978, Kenneth started his own business and became a highly respected and talented engineer and builder. However, his favorite and most rewarding job was being a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He has touched the lives of everyone he met and his legacy of unselfishness and thoughtfulness run deep in his family.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Susan, and their four children – Charles, Christy, April, and Sarah - including their significant others – Kellye Brown, Michael Funke, Jed Reites, and Ira “Trey” Vandergrift III – as well as his seven grandchildren.

Ken is also survived by his parents, Chuck and Loretta, sister Colleen and her husband Mike Davis, and his brothers Paul and his wife Martha, Jeremy and his wife Andria, and also Doyle.

Memorial Mass will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 1305 Demascus Road, Rockwall, Texas 75087. He will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Cemetary in Rowlett, Texas.
