Kathryn Higginbotham Leavell

Kathryn Higginbotham Leavell passed away peacefully on December 11, 2023 in Dallas, TX surrounded by family. Kay was born on October 13, 1948 in Abilene, TX to Fred and Jean Higginbotham. She was raised in Dallas, TX and attended W.T. White High School and Texas Christian University. Because of her hospitality, love, and spirit her home quickly became the place to be. Kay’s generosity led her to philanthropic projects. She was a member of the Dallas Junior League and spent time volunteering at Parkland Hospital. Kay valued her friendships greatly. She enjoyed having friends over for wine and cheese on Friday afternoons and trips with her girlfriends. Kay loved annual trips to South Padre Island and weekends at the Lake. Kay’s most valued jobs were mother and grandmother. She loved her two daughters and five grandchildren fiercely. Kay was consistent in her attendance at Park Cities Baptist Church, BSF, and Women’s Bible Study. Kay was a selfless woman who gave her time and abilities generously to those around her. She will forever be remembered as the life of the party, the fun mom, and the coolest grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Steve Leavell, daughter Leslie Leavell Goth, husband Jason, and children Georgia and Wyatt, daughter Laurie Leavell Hestwood, husband Mark, and children Audrey, Annabelle, and Allie, and sister Jan McCabe and family. The Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 18, 2023 at Park Cities Baptist Church.
