Judith Jan Owens

Judith (Judy) Jan Jenkins was born in Greenville, TX July 12, 1938 to Opal and Brice Jenkins. Judy grew up with her sisters Joselyn and Nancy. She attended Greenville High School, and was a member of Wellington Street Baptist Church. As a teen she met David Owens of Sulphur Springs, TX at church camp where they fell deeply in love.In 1955 they married and began their beautiful journey together making their home in Sulphur Springs where they were members of The First Baptist Church. Soon their first son Mark David was born followed by another son, Gregory Brice. With hard work and commitment their dreams began to grow and they moved to Jackson, TN. and became faithful members of First Baptist Church.

Their family grew again with the birth of their daughter Scherry Lynn. God blessed and prospered their life and with a new opportunity they returned to Texas, making their home in Plano. They attended First Baptist Church and later moved their membership to Prestonwood Baptist Church during its early years. Judy sang in the choir, also volunteering her gifts to decorate the church for events and serving to help Prestonwood grow. Judy was a hands on patron in supporting the Plano Symphony, overseeing fund raising galas. She served community organizations and was active with the Republican Women of Greater North Texas.

She launched a decorating career with her design company Heavenly Creations. Judy brought beauty in everything she put her hands to as God blessed her talents and tireless commitment to detail.All three of their children graduated from college and began their families. Their grandchildren from Mark and Tina Owens are Jessica Owens Palomo, Jennifer Owens Self, Jeana Owens and David Owens. From Gregory and Jeanne Owens is Gavin Owens. From Scott and Scherry Schafer are Connor Schafer, Christian Schafer and Cailey Schafer Brandon. Grandchildren by marriage are Tyler Self, Kathrine Borgnes Schafer, Amy Thayer Schafer and Colton Brandon Great grand children are Olivia and Elena Palomo.

In 2005 Judy and David celebrated their 50th Anniversary as friends and family came together to honor them.In 2020 they celebrated 65 blessed years together. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Judy considered family her greatest joy and priority. Judy’s life is a legacy of faith, love, family, friends, beauty, hard work, integrity, high standards, humor, music, gatherings and great meals, lavish decor and table settings, classy outfits and accessories, and thoughtful gift giving.

Judy was a passionate fervent prayer warrior, praying for her family, friends and nation often into the night hours. She loved Jesus with all her heart, soul and mind and lived to give God glory in everything.

On the morning of January 23, 2021, the angels and a cloud of witnesses welcomed Judy into eternal life thru her Savior Jesus. It was her finest moment.

Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. For we walk by faith, not by sight. We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.
