John Curtis Thompson, age 88, born September 23, 1922, passed away on October 19 in Dallas, TX. He is the son of the late Byron S. Thompson and the late Coy Curtis Hays Thompson. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dennis Jean Bryan Thompson, and by 2 daughters, Dianne Thompson Sibley (Dallas) and Colleen Thompson Elliott and husband, Frank (San Antonio). He is also survived by one grandchild whom he loved and adored, Brooke Allison Sibley. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Sibyl Thompson Edmondson and husband Justus (Tulsa, OK). He was predeceased in death by 2 sisters, Retha Thompson McGee and Kaye Thompson Bracken. John was born in Muskogee, OK, and was raised in Amity, AR. He received an Engineering degree from Oklahoma State University, where he was president of his fraternity Phi Delta Theta. During his service in the Army in World War II, he attended and obtained a Masters degree in Meteorology from California Institute of Technology and later, a law degree from Southern Methodist University. He and his wife resided in University Park for over 50 years. He had a strong belief in family ties, education, self improvement, integrity, and concern for others. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held Friday October 22, 2010 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Northwest Highway Chapel.
