December 24, 1955 - January 6, 2021
Our beloved brother, John McCormick, passed away Wednesday, January 6th, 2021.
John was born December 24, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois to Robert Jordan and Frances M.
McCormick. He grew up in Dallas, Texas, and attended St. Rita Catholic School, W.T.
White High School, and the University of Texas at Austin.
In his younger years, one could always find Johnny and his brothers, all fiery red heads,
riding bikes, swimming at Glen Cove, or causing mischief at the annual neighborhood
Fourth of July parties.
After college, Johnny went into restaurant management with Andrew’s restaurants,
which led to a successful career in supply chain, business development, client relations,
and sales with Edward Don & Co. for the past thirty years.
As a competitive swimmer through high school, Johnny continued his love for the water
becoming a certified scuba diver. He enjoyed his many travels and friends he met while
snorkeling, diving, and photographing his adventures. Johnny also enjoyed golfing,
reading, and watching sports and detective shows. He cherished the many large family
gatherings and was especially known for his fresh cranberry dish as well as the maker
of the best Bloody Mary cocktails at family holidays.
Johnny was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, godfather, and friend. He was preceded in
death by his parents, Robert J. and Frances McCormick, sister, Susan, and brother,
Brian. He is survived by his brothers and sisters: Tim and Robin McCormick, Sharon
Sullivan, Tom and Susan McCormick, Janet and John Maher, MaryLynn and Charlie
Barnard, Jim and Yolanda McCormick, Maureen and Ron Hoofard, as well as a
multitude of nieces and nephews and cherished friends.
Johnny's life will be celebrated with a memorial mass at Calvary Hill, Dallas, Texas.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the mass celebration will be family only.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of choice.
