John passed away peacefully on July 23, 2012, age 71. He was born on October 27, 1940 in Dallas, to the late Katherine Gilman and John Gilman, of Dallas. He was a loving brother to his sister, the late Ann Smith of Swansea, MA. He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Sue Ann Gilman, his daughters Katherine Gilman of Dallas, Deborah Gilman of Boston, and his grandsons, Isaiah and Wyatt Ritchey, also of Boston. In addition, he leaves behind many other treasured family members and friends who are deeply sorrowed by this loss. John attended Wentworth Military Academy and Southern Methodist University, ultimately earning his MBA in Accounting. He was a retired Lt. Colonel for the US Army, and he reflected the same core values, dedication, strength, and honor throughout his personal and professional life. John worked for IBM in sales and management for 35 years, and was loved by all his co-workers for his sense of humor, combined with his drive to succeed. His legacy will undoubtedly live on, as everyone holds him dear to their hearts. May he be at peace, and enjoy the comfort and serenity of knowing that he has touched countless lives. Private burial. Memorial services and reception will be held 11:00 am on July 28, 2012 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Dallas.
