Jimmy Pat Martin was born February 18, 1936 to James Earl and Lucy Martin in Dallas, Texas. He passed away on February 12, 2020 at the age of 83. As a small child, his family moved to the Waxahachie/Avalon area where Pat spent the best years of his childhood on the farm. The family moved back to Dallas where he graduated from Sunset High School and had many good friends. Pat then went to Texas Tech for a while and came back to Dallas to go to SMU. He then was drafted by the U.S. Army. His next four years were the most fun of his life to that point. He made the Army Baseball team and played ball across Europe.
When he came home he decided he wanted to accomplish becoming a bank President, which he achieved at Royal National Bank in Dallas. After achieving his goal he decided to go into the car business. For several years he had dealerships in the Garland car rows. Later, when he was tired of that part of the business, he went into the independent car business. Pat had contacts with high-end car dealers in the area who would contact and ask him to look for special cars for their clients. He would find them and bring them to Dallas to sell. He loved that business.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Barber Martin; and step-sons, Bruce and Mike. Pat and Mary had a wonderful life together for 2 ½ years. They belong to Lake Pointe Church at the White Rock campus.
A visitation will be on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 10:00 am at Lake Point Church, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at Providence Cemetery near Corsicana, Texas.
