Jan was born January 8, 1955 in West Palm Beach, Florida, daughter of Raymond and Celia (Box) Breault. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Jimmy Enriquez. She is survived by husband Kevin, and brothers Ronald (Sue) Enriquez, Raymond Breault Jr. and sister Patricia (Chuck) May, and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Jan grew up in an Air Force family and spent her early years in a variety of locations including the Philippines, Montana, Massachusetts, and Arizona before settling in Topeka, KS. She graduated from Topeka High in 1973 and remained In Topeka a few years following graduation before moving to Houston, Texas to start the next chapter in her life. She moved to Dallas, TX in 1983 and married her husband Kevin in 1986.
Jan worked in a variety of administrative positions for several years, dealing with contracts, financial reporting and other administration functions. Her most rewarding job was her last before retiring in 2010, when she worked as a teacher's assistant at a local elementary school assisting special needs children in their classes.
Jan had many interests and hobbies. She loved growing plants, both indoors and out, and was a long time member of a local chapter of the African Violet Society. She also enjoyed needle type work where she could create things, starting with crocheting and expanding to cross-stitch and needlepoint. Her most recent endeavor was designing and making quilts for the past several years. These were all outlets for Jan to exercise her artistic talents. Jan made many friends over the years, participating in formal and informal groups with similar interests. She also made a number of remote friends through online blogs she was an active participant in.
Jan's other passion was her regular visits to two local thrift stores where she would search for treasures and any vintage fabric they may have for her quilts. She enjoyed researching and learning everything she could about the antique items she would find.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Jan's honor on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 4pm at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home. Anyone wishing to make a contribution in Janet's honor are encouraged to do so with the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Houston, TX; the Faith Presbyterian Hospice in Dallas, TX; or the charity of their choice.
