James J. Teeling III

James (Jim) J. Teeling, III, age 79, of Denton, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2023, after a long journey with dementia. He was born on May 5, 1944 in Dallas, Texas, to James J. Teeling, Jr., and Faye Belle Linder Teeling. Jim was raised in Dallas and graduated from Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas and North Texas State University (now UNT). Jim was happily married to Anne Wooten Teeling for almost 30 years, and they enjoyed traveling together, especially to their favorite destination – the Big Island of Hawaii.

Jim served in the Air Force Reserves, then joined The Teeling Mortgage Company, eventually serving as President. He worked in the mortgage banking industry for over 40 years. He was a past President of the Dallas Young Mortgage Bankers Association, Dallas Mortgage Bankers Association, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Metropolitan Dallas and the Texas Master Naturalists Lindheimer Chapter.

Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, volunteer Master Gardener activities, cooking (especially if he was wearing his Teeling Whiskey Distillery apron) and visiting with family and friends (particularly his Jesuit classmates and mortgage banking colleagues). He will be remembered fondly for his wonderful sense of humor and kindness to family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Nancy Teeling. He is survived by his loving wife, Anne; sister Betty Maddox; brothers Mike (Joan) Teeling, Pat (Bernadette) Teeling and Bill (Lynn) Teeling; special nephew, James Teeling, and many other valued nieces and nephews.

He was a long time member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Dallas; most recently he was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Argyle, TX.

A visitation for Jim will be held Friday, May 26, 2023 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Calvary Hill Funeral Home, 3235 Lombardy Ln, Dallas, TX 75220. A funeral service will occur Friday, May 26, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 3235 Lombardy Ln, Dallas, TX 75220. A graveside service will occur Friday, May 26, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Ln, Dallas, TX 75220.

Jim will be laid to rest in Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Ln, Dallas, TX 75220-3338; SECTION B; Section: BLOCK 2, Lot: 249, Grave: 5.
