Jacqueline Louise Olive (Gibbs) was born August 2, 1939 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to parents Faye and Hill Watson (Jack) Olive, Jr. She attended Oklahoma University where she received degrees in Home Economics and English. She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. While at OU, she met David Gibbs on a blind date and they married on May 27, 1961 in Norman, Oklahoma. Jackie and David resided in Liberal Kansas for 13 years where David worked as a Petroleum Engineer and where their two children, Laura and Douglas were born. While in Liberal, Jackie was in charge of the 1970 Census for Seward County Kansas. After a wonderful five year stay in Denver, Colorado, the family moved to Richardson, Texas where David worked for a major oil and gas company as Chief Petroleum Engineer and Jackie focused primarily on the home. Eventually, as the children headed towards college (Texas A&M), Jackie began a career in aviation insurance. She advanced to become an underwriter specializing in insurance for home-build, helicopters and military aircraft. She attended Flight School training to ensure she could land one of the company’s small aircraft if the pilot suffered a medical problem. Outside of work, Jackie was an avid reader, Sudoku puzzler and bridge player. She and David enjoyed spending time with their small groups and traveling the world together and with friends. To her six grandchildren and great-grandson she was “NaNa”. Few things in life gave her more pleasure than spending time with and supporting them - many times over a phenomenal home cooked meal. Jackie died on December 3, 2023 from complications of vascular dementia. She is survived by her husband David Gibbs, daughter Laura (Mark) Jordan, son Douglas (Trish) Gibbs, grandsons Brooks (Danielle), Blake and Bennett Maczka, granddaughters Jacqueline, Tatum and Berkley Gibbs, great grandson Harvey Pentecost as well as her sister Shirley Austin (Bob) and numerous other friends and family members. A service will be held at Christ Church, Plano on December 11, 2023 at 2:00 pm. Interment of ashes will be in Oklahoma. Contributions if desired, may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America in her name.
