Jack Harold Key, of Kaufman, died Monday, August 17, 2020, at the age of 84. Services for Jack will be held at Country Bible Church in Kaufman, TX on Saturday, August 22, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive visitors at Grove Hill Funeral Home on Friday, August 21, between 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Jack was born on February 16, 1936 in Eustace, Texas to Donald and Florene Key. On July 11, 1953, he married his sweetheart, Jo Bowden. After starting their life together in South Dallas on Hatcher Street, they moved to the Piedmont Apartments before finally buying their first home on Dell Oak Street in Pleasant Grove. Jack was a bus driver for the city of Dallas, and soon after began driving a big rig for Frozen Food Express and later for Coca Cola. In 1974, he and Jo opened Jack Key Auto Sales on Buckner Blvd. in Dallas and began a new journey selling cars and made so many friends in that business. In 1985, he combined his love of trucking with the contacts he had made in the car business and formed Jack Key Auto Transport, sometimes personally hauling cars all over the country. He loved working on trucks and talking to the people. He came in every day and hugged everyone and most of the time bought lunch for the entire staff. He valued hard work and came to work every day including the very last day of his life. He was a loyal friend and took great care of those he loved. He loved ice cream, was a sharp-dresser and always had a story to tell. He loved Jesus and faithfully attended church. He was a devoted husband and father that leaves behind a legacy of generosity and love. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers and now joins his sweet, loving wife of 65 years, Jo. He leaves behind his sons Larry, Jamey, and Tony Key, his daughters-in-law Cheryl and Sharlette Key, his sister Carolyn Ivey, his grandchildren Jason and Molly Key, Damon and Stacy Brown, Joey Key, Daniel and Jana Murrey, and Dalton Key, and seven great-grandchildren. Rest in peace and get back, Jack!
