March 6, 1927 – September 25, 2023
Born in Dallas, Texas to Jesse L and Irma B. Wilson in their 6th street home in Oak Cliff. She was the baby of the family and had all older brothers. She started school at Trinity Heights and graduated from Oak Cliff High School (now W. H. Adamson) in 1944. Her first job was at Neiman Marcus downtown wrapping packages. She met her future husband, Thomas W. Mitchell, on a blind date on December 7, 1951. They were married July 24, 1952 at Trinity Presbyterian Church. She and “Mitch” enjoyed dancing, years of dominos with friends and traveling. They were members of Trinity Presbyterian church. She served as both an Elder and a Deacon during her many years of membership. Upon the closing of Trinity, she became a member of Desoto Presbyterian Church. She worked many years for the Federal Government in Investigations and the Office of Personnel Management where she made many lifelong friends. She retired from civil service and began a career in the private sector. She and Mitch loved to travel in both the U.S. and Europe. She loved being active in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She volunteered over 20 years at Grace Presbyterian Village where she ran the annual bizarre and made too many quilts to count.
