Henry was born in San Antonio, Texas on St. Patrick’s Day but was named after a candy bar (Oh Henry!), much to his chagrin. Feeling he should have instead been named Patrick, he bestowed the name to his son. Growing up in San Marcos, Texas, Henry spent much of his time outdoors and developed a passion for basketball. In high school he was Senior Captain of the San Marcos Rattler’s basketball team, district champions under legendary Coach Bill Krueger. Henry continued to play basketball long after high school, eventually teaching his children and instilling in them a love for the game. Throughout his life, Henry remained very active playing basketball, and also became an avid golfer and bowler. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and working on projects with his father-in-law. He was a man of many talents. He notoriously had the brightest house on the street at Christmas, a self-proclaimed Griswold. Henry was a Texan through and through and enjoyed grilling on the weekends and watching sports. He could make a mean rack of ribs and the best hamburgers. He enjoyed a successful career in Human Resources training and development over the years and was not shy about speaking in front of large groups. He was an easy going, likable and friendly guy to everyone he met. His contagious smile and words of wisdom will be missed but not forgotten by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Vicky Aranda, son Patrick Aranda (Catherine Hansen), daughter Stazny Duckworth (Colby), sister Betty Hernandez (David), sister-in-law Martha Dohm (Serge Arnaud), grandchildren Luke and Rowan Aranda and Mabel, Dax and Koa Duckworth, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents Elva and Albert Aranda, Sr., brothers Albert Aranda, Jr. and Tony Aranda and father-in-law Clyde Dohm.
