Greta Belle Wright was born in Fort Worth, Texas, to Nathan Wright II and Lillian Slaton-Wright. A proud graduate of South Oak Cliff High School in 1970, she was the first featured twirler. Greta went on to earn her Associate Degree from Daughton’s Business College and dedicated 24 years of service to the U.S. Postal Service before retiring.
Greta’s family meant the world to her. She is survived by her beloved sister, Phyllis Wright Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Nathan Wright III (Beverley), who passed away in 2022.
On March 18, 1971, Greta married Perry Lee Thomas, and together they had two daughters, Kesha DeShea Thomas and Emoni Thomas Wicks (Will). Greta's legacy also lives on through her four grandchildren: Ashlee Blaine Freeman (Carl), Rickey LaDon Daniels, II, Neiman Dall Wicks, and Dakoda Belle Wicks, as well as one great-granddaughter, Rylee Giselle Daniels. She is also survived by three bonus daughters, Kimily Thomas, LaTracy Thomas, and Brandi Thomas; two Godchildren, Cedric Henderson, and Timetra Washington a bonus sister, Debra Robinson Abraham; and a host of family and dear friends.
Greta’s love for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughter, was boundless. She had a sharp intellect, a flair for interior décor, and a remarkable sense of style. Known affectionately as "The Diva," Greta took pride in her appearance, always making sure to look her best—whether she was heading to the store for a loaf of bread or out for an event. Her elegance and attention to detail made her a standout in any setting.
Greta’s passing is also deeply felt by her special companion, David Collins, her best bonus sister Debra Abraham, niece Ninah Robinson, and many others who were blessed to know her.
A faithful member of Freedom Pointe Church, Greta’s spirit and love will continue to be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Senior Pastor Paul Garrett and the congregation will miss her presence.
She will forever be remembered for her love, her beauty, and the joy she brought to every life she touched.
