He was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 16, 1934 to John W. and Norma Dyer Johnson. He attended Catholic grade schools in Detroit and after completing high school he enlisted in the ARMY where he was stationed in Alaska. After a 4 year tour in the armed forces, he returned to Detroit where he married his sweetheart Maureen Quigley. They moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan for 2 years where he met his lifelong friend, Lee Posey. The two friends, along with their wives, moved to California where they started their successful mobile home manufacturing career. Tom and Maureen had a son, Thomas Johnson, then 2 years later they moved to Dallas, TX where he continued his career in the mobile home industry eventually becoming the President of the company. After 21 years of success with Redman Mobile Homes, he retired and he and Maureen moved to Lakeway, TX to rest. Knowing Tom, rest was not his forte… he soon after returned to Dallas and purchased Roadmaster Industries, and began a successful 15 year career in the boat trailer industry where he and his son, Tom worked together. After retiring again, he learned to love rest and relaxation with Maureen and his 3 grandsons who he loved to take fishing. His Love, Maureen, passed away in February of 2011 after which Tom took up traveling again and recently went into business with his son, Tom, opening up a restoration franchise, Rainbow International Restoration of Denton. Up to his last days, Tom was the ever vigilant friend, father and grandfather. Tom inspired so many and his inspirations will continue to live in those he touched.
