Mrs. Gloria Jean Hopkins Graham was born November 17, 1932, to the devoted parentage of Mr. & Mrs. Walter Hopkins. She had one brother who preceded her in death, Harold James Hopkins. Her last days were a celebration of her love of God, her family and friends and caregivers.
She attended Wheatley elementary School and Lincoln High School. She was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree from Prairie View A&M College in Priarie View, Texas. Gloria took a Civil Service exam and successfully passed. She taught two years on the Oglala Sioux Reservation, on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. Later she taught on the Northern Arizona Reservation for one year.
In the year of 1958 she married Bennie E. Graham. To this union two children were born, Rhea Lynne and Chad Edward in the city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin where Bennie and Gloria relocated.
In 1972 Gloria was awarded a Master of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. She was a devoted member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and a proud member of the Metropolitan Milwaukee Alliance of Black School Educators MMABSE. Gloria worked a total of thirty-five years. She retired June 1991. After retirement, Gloria and Bennie returned to his home in Dallas, Texas. They united with the Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Curtis W. Wallace, where they were dedicated, faithful,loyal and loving servant members.
Gloria became the 1st vice president of Mission #2 for a number of years, a devoted member of adult #2 Sunday School, a member of the deaconess auxiliary, a member of the C. W. Wallace Chorus. Those who were close to Gloria were touched by her loving and thoughtful spirit.
Our heavenly Father released Gloria on April 11, 2024. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband , Bennie Graham ,her son, Chad Edward Graham, parents, and brother , Harold Hopkins. Gloria Jean Hopkins Graham was the most loving, thoughtful, caring and devoted mother to Rhea, Chad, Grandmother to Kelsey, Kyle, Kaylon, Charvai, and Lindy. She was indeed family oriented and loved each unconditionally.
She is survived by her only loving daughter , Rhea , son-in-law Larry, 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, brother Anthony Hopkins, a host of other relatives, dear friends and former students.
