Eugene William Campbell, 84, of Dallas, TX, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at a local Dallas Hospital. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who was the epitome of generosity, love and ethical practices in his career and his life.
He was born in Forney, Texas on September 29, 1928 to Henry William Campbell and Rose A. Buresh Campbell. He was salutatorian of his graduating class at Forney High School and attended North Texas Agricultural College, graduating in 1946. He had a long and distinguished career in management and systems analysis at Neiman Marcus in Dallas. He and wife Bettie attended First United Methodist Church, Dallas, for more than 50 years and were members of the Double Ring Sunday School class. Gene was an avid football fan supporting first the fledgling Dallas Texans and later the Dallas Cowboys. His passion was travel- he and Bettie spent several summers in Europe or the Pacific Northwest and later were fond of taking their grandchildren on special vacations.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 62 years, Bettie Jean Campbell of Dallas, TX; son Michael Campbell and his wife Ann, daughter, Lisa Prewitt, grandchildren Julia and Davis Campbell and Jared and Caleb Prewitt and wife Brenda, and great grandchildren Lilly and Brooklyn Prewitt.
A Family Graveside Service will be at 3:00 pm on Saturday, January 26, 2012 at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Dallas, TX. A Memorial Service will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at First United Methodist Church, 1928 Ross Ave., Dallas, TX with Dr. John F. Fiedler officiating.
