Esteban Lopez

After a brave, hard fought battle with cancer, Esteban Lopez passed away on Monday, November 7, 2016 in his home with family by his side. He was born on November 13, 1942 in Kemp, Kaufman County, Texas to his loving parents Antonia and Albino Lopez, who proceeded him in death. He was a strong, kind, humble, giving man who had a quiet spirit and big heart. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, mentor and friend who influenced so many throughout his life. He is loved by so many and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Marey Lopez. His son Jerry Lopez and wife Joanne, son Scott Lopez, daughter Yolanda Roof and husband Steve from a previous marriage. His daughter Juanita Velasquez from his present marriage. Grandchildren: Justin Fuentes and Hailey Velasquez, Mariah, Madison, Marissa Roof and Austen, Joseph, Colton, Dylan Lopez. Great grandchildren: Haiden and Nathaniel Lopez and Angie Leyva. Siblings: Mike, Victor, Amos, and Odilon Lopez and Theresa Veloz and Tina Rodriguez. Esteban retired in 2014 from St. Paul Hospital/UT Southwestern where he was a Radiology Technologist for 54 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War in the Medical Company and received many medals. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved his job. He had a true passion to help others whether at work or in everyday life. He was a man who believed in a positive mindset and that one could do or be anything you wanted. He demonstrated this ability throughout his life but especially during his battle against cancer. He was a true warrior. He is now at peace with Our Heavenly Father. Visitation will be held Sunday November 13, 2016 from 2:00 PM till 6:00 PM with the Holy Rosary scheduled for 4:00 PM at Gonzalez Funeral Home. Please join the family for a 12:45 PM Funeral Service on Monday November 14, 2016 at Gonzalez Funeral Home. Interment will follow at DFW National Cemetery.
