Emilie was born in Alma, Texas to Louis and Mary Zabojnik. She lived on the family farm with her four brothers, Louis, Frank, Aubrey, & Stanley, along with her five sisters, Mary, Francis, Theresa, Ella, and Polly. She is survived by just one sister, Ella Babek.
Emilie attended school and grew up in the Alma / Ennis Texas area.
On June 23, 1947, she married Charles Barto at St John’s Church in Ennis. They soon moved to the Dallas area to begin a beautiful life together that they shared for 47 years until the death of Charles in 1994.
Emilie was an active member of the KJZT, The Catholic Czech Club, and the Women’s Guild of St. Bernard’s Church in Dallas.
Emilie lived a full and happy life of 96 years. She will live in the hearts of her family and friends she made along the way. Death will be powerless to destroy her spirit and all the memories we have of her.
Emilie is survived by her three children, Diana Latham, Don Barto, and Gary Barto, son in law Scott Latham, daughters in law, Chris and Terri. Emilie is also survived by three grandchildren, Julie Holland and husband Keith , Luba Barto, and Ethan Barto along with three great grandchildren, Kaleb, Jordyn, and Kaitlyn Holland.
Visitation will be 6 – 8pm Monday, February 3, 2020, at Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home with recitation of the Rosary at 7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2pm Tuesday, February 4, 2020 in the North Chapel of Calvary Hill Mausoleum, Rev. Leon Duesman, Celebrant. Entombment will follow in Calvary Hill Mausoleum.
