Ella Mae Peterson

She was one of 10 children. She was introduced to and accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Benchley, Texas.

She received her early education in Brazos County and was a graduate of E. A. Kemp High School, class of 1955 in Bryan, Texas.

After graduation from High School she moved to Dallas, Texas. She met and married the love of her life Seabe Washington Peterson who she lovingly called “Pokie” in 1962. He passed away on December 23, 1993.

She was a member of New Birth Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas under the leadership of Dr. George W. Pryor, where they had church in a house. She was the 16th member to join the church and was very active in the church.

In 2003 she joined Pilgrim Rest Baptist, Dallas, Texas under the leadership of Dr. Curtis Wallace and currently Reverend Dr. Carlos D. Williams. She was active in Sunday School. She remained there and active until her health failed.

She was employed at Sanger Harris for over 25 years and later worked at Foleys At both stores she was an outstanding employee and was a member of the Presidents Club and the Golden Arch Club. She later worked for Macy’s where she retired.

She was a strong and “Classy” lady who believed that you should dress always dress your best at all times.

On August 5, 2021 at 6:37 p.m. she made her transition from earth to Glory.

She was preceded in death by her parents Maxie and Ceoma Taylor, her loving husband of 31 years Seabe W. Peterson “Pokie”, 9 siblings, Edward Taylor, Curtis Taylor Sr, Vivian Taylor Preston, Johnnie Mae Taylor Mitchell, James O. Taylor, Ellen Marie Taylor, Floyd Taylor, Searcy Taylor and Lonnie Taylor.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories a daughter, care giver, companion and encourager Josephine Taylor Twine, (2) grandchildren Johnnie “Moon” Twine Jr. (La Tonia) and Terri Twine, great grandchildren Leslie Murphy, Leia Twine, Chase Johnson and Christian Jefferson, God daughter Adwinda “Wendy” Cooks, God son Shedrick C. Robinson, many nieces nephews, cousins and friends.
