Earlie Bernard Haley

Earlie Bernard Haley was born on August 6, 1946, to John Haley and Lillion Johnson in Lewisville, Arkansas. Earlie accepted Christ at an early age at Mount Grove Baptist Church in Lewisville, Arkansas. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1966 in Texarkana, Arkansas. In 1968, Earlie enlisted in the U.S. Army, and he received an Honorary Discharge in 1970.

After receiving his Honorary Discharge from the U.S. Army, Earlie began working at the U.S. Postal Service in Dallas, Texas and later retired in 2006 after working 28 years.

Earlie later returned to Texarkana, Texas and was reunited with his high school sweetheart Ardean Isaiah-Haley. In 2008, Earlie and Ardean were married in Texarkana, Arkansas. They were married for 8 years until her demise in 2016.

While living in Texarkana, Earlie spent majority of his time as an active member of his community. He initiated a program to solicit funds to donate hams and turkeys for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. He had a strong appreciation for and treasured his military duty. He underlined that by collecting funds and sponsoring a dinner at the school and a barbeque in the park on Veterans’ Day. He, Pete Cheatham and Fitzgerald Jamison established the Miller County Veterans group in 2016. He, along with several others, led a movement for the renovation of the Earnest Hill Park in Texarkana, Texas. His display of his High School coaches attached to a parade float won first and second place in the Black History Parades. He donated those photos to the Washington High School archives. Earlie was very proud of his Texarkana heritage.

Earlie also enjoyed spending time with his family in Houston and in Dallas. He loved to come and visit with many of his family and friends during the weekends and holidays. Earlie loved to cook, and he loved to feed his family. He enjoyed telling stories of the past and teaching the younger generation about the Haley family history. Earlie was a loving father, loyal brother, uncle and a dear friend to all who knew him.

Earlie’s memory will be cherished by his two daughters Tawana Haley of Houston, Texas; Tamiecar Tezeno of Houston, Texas; son Kentron Haley of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren Tamia and Tiana Haley of Houston, Texas; Brent Harrison Jr. of Houston, Texas; Ebony Tezeno of Katy, Texas; Johnisha Hawkins of Houston, Texas; Emberlyn Haley, and Kentron Haley Jr. of Texarkana, Texas; nephews Micah Haley of Dallas, Texas; Darin Haley of Dallas, Texas; niece Jarosa Waller (Ray) of Midlothian, Texas; Life long friend Elaine Tyous of Texarkana, Texas; Corey Tyous and Eric Tyous (step-sons) and a host of relatives, extended family and friends.
