We rejoice knowing that Douglas Fonville is completely healed and in the presence of his Savior. While we wish he hadn’t been taken from us at age 66, we are thankful for the hope of eternal life through salvation in Jesus Christ.
Doug was an incredibly strong man who battled cancer twice. Despite the fact that he lost his battle this round, he fought harder and longer than any of us could have imagined. His amazingly positive attitude throughout the battle embodies who Doug was and has always been. He has always been a pillar of strength and calm while making sure that we were laughing through the storm. If you knew Doug, you experienced the joy of his laughter and humor, the soul-satisfying comfort of his incredible culinary skills, the delightful memories made through travel and adventure, and the breathtaking beauty of his singing.
Doug was born in Pasadena, TX. After graduating from Sam Houston State in 1978, he moved to Dallas to get his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) from Baylor College of Dentistry. He remained in the Dallas area and practiced dentistry until 2022.
Doug is survived by his parents, Jerry and Barbara Fonville; his siblings, Paula Box, Vickie Fonville, and David (Dennis) Fonville; and his children, Bryan Fonville and Kara (Brett) Richstone. He is also survived by his greatest delight, his grandchildren, Cole and Nina Richstone.
