Dot Hulsey, age 87, passed away on June 2, 2024, at her home in Dallas, Texas. She was born on March 7, 1937, in Marks, Mississippi to Charlotte and Logan H. Summers. Dot, also known as Dorothy, was a beloved member of the Highland Park community in Dallas, Texas. Dorothy was a graduate of Highland Park High School and upon her graduation, continued her studies at North Texas State University and the University of Houston. After college, she was employed by Preston State Bank, and later, Inwood National Bank as a loan officer. In 1980, she married Alan A. “Bud” Hulsey where they remained in Highland Park and were active members of the Brookhollow Golf Club and the Coon Creek Club near Athens, Texas. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Bud Hulsey, her father – Logan, mother - Charlotte, brother - James G. Summers, her sister – Jane Charlotte Ulmer, and her great-nephew Justin Burt. She is survived by her six nieces, Pat Cearley, Pam Reneau, Jan Marks, Beth Dobson, Lisa Bartzokas, Amy Keeney, two nephews, James Summers Jr., Mike Ulmer, two stepsons Hugh Hulsey, Earl Hulsey, stepdaughter, Ellen Hulsey Schum and her husband Jeff, and four step-grandchildren, Tony Schum, Sara Schum, Jenna and Brooke Hulsey, along with Dot’s faithful companion, Max. Our family would also like to express our deepest gratitude and love to Melba Brown, Carman Castaneda, Sonya Moore, her Home Care nurses, and to Tasha Hollis, her Hospice nurse for the caring, devotion, love, and skill they provided to her during her final days. Dorothy’s services will be held at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7403 West Northwest Highway, Dallas, Texas 75225 on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. May she rest in peace.
