Dorothy Jane Mixon

Dorothy Jane Sneed Mixon died on May 20, 2010. She was born May 8, 1921 in Ranger, Texas to parents Mary Hewell Sneed and William Batson Sneed. Dorothy attended North Dallas High School graduating in 1939 and attended Texas State College for Women in Denton, Texas. Dorothy was employed as a secretary at Kraft Foods in Garland for 32 ½ years. She was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Garland, a Past Matron of Garland Chapter 156, Order of the Eastern Star, Past Mother Advisor of Assembly of Rainbow for Girls no. 220, and a charter member and past president of North East Texas Porcelain Art Club. She is survived by sister, Margaret Sneed Galbraith of San Antonio, nephew, Robert Galbraith of McCormick, South Carolina, nephew, Gary Galbraith of San Antonio and cousin, Jesse Louise Vine of Austin and numerous other family. There will be a visitation at 9:00 a.m., Monday, May 24th at First Presbyterian Church of Garland followed by funeral services beginning at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Anne Clifton Hebert officiating. Burial will follow services at Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy’s name can be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Garland, 930 W. Ave. B, Garland, Texas 75040.
