Donna Lillian Franke Cobb, affectionately known as Tootie, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 28, 2020. Tootie, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, was born on October 25, 1938, in St. Louis, MO, to Oscar and Edna Franke.
Tootie - precious in the eyes of the Lord - grew up on a farm and married at the age of 17; right out of high school. She and her late husband Charles Clifton Cobb shared an undying love for one another for over 61 years. Their marriage was a model of love, commitment, and devotion as partners in a full life together.
When just a teenager, Donna wrote this prayer that testifies to her deep faith in and abiding love for God: “Thank you for your Son and for letting me know of Him. Thank you for my many friends and relatives. Thank you for your love which I want to carry in my heart all the time and share it with everyone.” From the core of her being Tootie extended love, joy, hope, and happiness. Full of goodness and fun she never met a stranger and lit up every room she entered. Tootie greeted everyone with style, grace, and a smile. Friends and family alike wanted to be around Tootie and could never get enough of her. She was truly one-of-a-kind. Beautiful inside and out.
Anyone who knew Tootie quickly came to appreciate how much she loved others. She also enjoyed antiques, quilts, flowers, and country home decor. Her homes were featured in numerous magazines. Tootie was active and fit, regularly taking long walks outdoors and playing “competitive” tennis even in her senior years. She loved music and held her own on the dance floor even with her children and grandchildren.
No matter the circumstances Tootie never complained and faced every challenge with a positive spirit. She selflessly invested her life raising three children and supporting Charlie and his career. Charlie’s job took Tootie from St Louis, MO. to Jackson, MS. and finally Lakeland FL. In 2014 Tootie and Charlie moved to Frisco, TX to be closer to family. Upon the passing of her husband Charlie in 2018 Tootie relocated to the Tradition Lovers Lane in Dallas.
Tootie is survived by her children Dawn Jones and husband Hollis; Ty Cobb and wife Becky; Guy Cobb and wife Debbie; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; numerous other family members, and friends. May her legacy shine on through the lives she touched and loved.
The family of Donna Tootie Cobb plans to honor her at a private memorial service at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery and a private Celebration of Life at Sparkman Hillcrest.
Her family wishes to thank Georgia Daniels and Lakeisha Masters of Home Helpers, Carol Cottle and the incredible staff at The Tradition Lovers Lane, and All Star Hospice, for their love and care on Tootie’s behalf.
