Don was born January 27, 1930 to Harold and Elsie (Kane) Davis in Rochester, New York. A lifelong sports fan, Don lettered in swimming, basketball and football at West High School, in Rochester. After serving as a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force during the Korean War, Don returned to New York and enrolled at Syracuse University. He was introduced to the love of his life, Rosemary (Giangreco), by his sister Joyce (Davis) Kimmel and future sister-in-law Dorothy (Giangreco) Bianchi. Don and Rosemary were married on June 29, 1957 and enjoyed a transatlantic cruise to Europe on their honeymoon. Don graduated from Syracuse with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Degree in 1959.
Don and Rosemary moved to Plano, Texas in 1974, where their children completed their educations. Don retired in 1995, after a long career in telecommunications. Golf, travel, a good crossword puzzle, watching sports or an old Charlie Chaplin movie and any opportunity to be with family made him the happiest. His unwavering support and unconditional love endeared him to all. There are many fond stories to be told, when his Irish humor was in true form.
Don is preceded in death by his wife Rosemary, his parents Harold and Elsie Davis and brother Richard Davis. He is survived by his daughter Laura Stone and husband Robert of McKinney, Texas; son Paul Davis and wife Kim of Lubbock, Texas; and son Michael Davis and wife Kimmy of Midland, Texas. Don is also survived by his grandchildren Lauren Glass de Moncayo (Saul), Lawrence Glass, Lindsey Glass, Ryan Davis and John Michael Davis; sister Joyce Kimmel of Syracuse, NY and numerous nieces and nephews.
We will miss this great man that we were lucky to call our father and grandfather. He will live on in the wonderful memories we share. He was one of a kind and an inspiration to all.
