Though we never met in person, we spoke weekly, about many things...not just work. I grew very fond of Denise, in the brief two years of working together.

Zoe, I feel I know you, through your Mom.

My deepest sincere condolences to my Kirkman family for the loss of my Cousin Denise. I remember the first time I met her at a family reunion here in NC. I had not been long had Zoe and I had a baby after her. She shared with me the joys of her being a mother to Zoe. We both shared how grateful we were for God entrusting us with our bundles of joy. She was one of the sweetest people ever. Always know Zoe, cuz loved being your mom. She would say you were the best thing that ever happened to her and I'm sure she showed you everyday. May God give you a comfort that surpasses all understanding. Love you all my Kirkman family .

Denise I met while we were both pregnant. She was my patient, I was her nurse and we formed an instant connection and became friends. We had our babies and experienced play dates  and birthday parties together, we made plans for Zoe and Kaden to one day marry one another. We enjoyed Bible studies and nice dinners together over the years. We supported each through many life experiences, we both had our babies in March 2008, we both lost our moms in March 2020, and now I've lost Denise is March 2024. March will never be the same but I find comfort in knowing that we studied God's word together and knew Him to be our Lord and Savior. Well done, Denise.

Denise, Niecy known to her family and friends with that endless smile and a heart of gold. Denise and Dorothy came into my life as little kids. I became their uncle when I married their aunt. Niecy would always meet me with that smile and a "hi Uncle Fran". When was a little girl she was the oldest sister and mother to all her younger cousins always keeping them under her wings and safe, this continued her whole life. 
There's too many fond memories I have Niecy, all of them putting a smile on my face, Dorothy do you remember the water (out the window)incident.  I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes writing this, but I know this kind heart is in heaven with the people she truly loved and missed, leaving some comfort to her unexpected passing.
Niecy you will forever stay on my mind and in heart. Love you always Uncle Fran

My deepest condolences for Zoe, Dorothy and the rest of the family. It’s taken over a week to process this and yet, I’m still at a loss for words. I keep replaying our last conversation in my head and repeatedly reading our last text messages wondering if it’s real.  Your infectious smile and your sweet laughter will forever play in my head. You are smart, you are beautiful and you will forever live in my heart. I love and miss you dear sweet friend!

My deepest sympathies on losing this amazing sweet soul.  Denise was an inspiring woman who was so very dedicated to Zoe, the light of her life.  Denise  had so many great qualities.  I will miss her amazing spirit, sweet smile and twinkle in her eyes.  I feel blessed our paths crossed.

I was blessed to know Denise through my dear friend Dorothy, and so I know she was truly loved.

I'm blessed with wonderful childhood memories of growing up together in Plainfield, NJ attending the same schools and church.  Thankful for those memories.  My family is saddened to hear the news of your passing.  Because of our faith we take comfort in believing you are with family and friends who have gone on before.  Praying for Zoe, Dorothy, and all those who knew and loved you.  Your impact on others was great. I pray you knew that while you were here.  Until we meet again...I hope you and Tim aren't cutting up too much.

We hung out in December and I was looking forward to us seeing your new place. I miss my friend and praying 🙏 for Zoey to have the strength needed as you are celebrated for being an amazing mom, sister and friend.  It was truly an honor knowing such a loving person.

I've known Denise since we were freshmen as undergraduates at the University of Detroit. Yes, that was a good while ago. 

Denise was one of my besties. We had so much crazy fun back in the 'D'. She was one of the sharpest, wittiest, most fun and special people to be around. We had a small, but loyal group of friends..a real mix of midwesterners, like myself from Michigan and a very New York/New Jersey contingent who brought a very strong east coast flavour. 

Over the years of getting to know her it was her big heart and solid nature that stood out most.  I always knew I could confide in her when things got tough with classes, friendships and life. 

Man, I have so many fond and funny memories...like when she introduced me to 'brass monkey' as we were hanging out with some friends in one of our dorm rooms (in the 'Quad') ..I think I'm still hungover from that evening :)

I only just got this news this morning via a mutual friend, Moira, who lives in South Africa. 

Moi got to know Denise when Denise had a short consulting stint in San Francisco. I just spoke with her and she reminded me that the 3 of our birthdays were within a week of each other. And, she went on to remind me of the time we celebrated our birthdays together at a belly dancing restaurant in San Francisco..and somehow they convinced the 3 of us to go up front and join the belly dancers for a bit of improptu belly dancing. What a riot that was...

So many great experiences, laughs and tears. I wish I'd kept in touch, this is such sad news. I really miss her.

I met Denise in Graduate school. 
Soft spoken and wicked smart, she caught my attention as someone I could learn from.
And oh what a beautiful smile.

One fun fact - she introduced me to first class travel on Amtrak! Train travel for me has never been quite the same since.

I loved how she shared her stories and pix of Zoe with us over all these years. Best mum ever I reckon.

Rest in peace Denise.  Heaven has gained an angel.

Denise was a wonderful woman on so many levels - a devoted mother to Zoe, a loving daughter to her mother, a supportive sister, and a cherished friend. My heart and my prayers are with Zoe and the whole family!!

I met Denise in grad school and am so glad I did. We became informal confidantes and supported each other in small ways over the course of that program, which led to our friendship. She was so loved and a deeply caring person.  My heart to her daughter, Zoe, whom she beamed over in every shared detail, and her family.
