Dawn Brown Dunn

Dawn Brown Dunn of Dallas, TX passed away peacefully in her sleep at her residence on Saturday September 2, 2023 at the age of 87 years old. She was predeceased by her husband Bob W. Dunn, as well as her 7 siblings Gwen Parker of Sulphur Springs, TX; Bill Brown; Lois Longley of Dallas, TX; Wonda Brown, Lee Brown, Frank Brown of Dallas, TX; and Mary Brown. Dawn is survived by her three children Stephen Mark (Jenni) Dunn of Chattanooga, TN; Robert William Dunn of Tyler, TX; and Jennifer Alene Dunn of Dallas, TX as well as three grandchildren Kevin Dunn of Tyler, TX; Lauryn Dunn of Tyler, TX; and Kayla (Mitchell) Halstead of Chattanooga, TN. Dawn is also survived by one great grand-child Hunter Halstead of Chattanooga, TN.

Dawn was born on January 1, 1936 in Telephone, TX to parents Luther Frank Brown and Sheila Pearl Puckett Brown. She graduated from Abilene Christian College with a Bachelor's degree in teaching. She went on to pursue graduate work in Speech Pathology at the University of Texas Austin. While at the University of Texas, Dawn met her beloved husband Bob Dunn who was attending the UT School of Engineering. They were married, settled in Garland, TX and had three children together who were their pride and joy.

After her children were off to college, Dawn returned to school and became a licensed drug and alcohol counsellor. Dawn worked for many years in this field, helping countless people recovering from addiction. Dawn was also an avid runner for most of her life. She ran multiple marathons and continued to run for fun into her 70’s. Dawn was also a devout Christian and member of the Saturn Road Church of Christ in Garland, TX. Her faith saw her through the untimely death of her husband Bob Dunn at the age of 52. In her last years, Dawn enjoyed reading, exercising, spending time with friends and her children and grandchildren. Dawn will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her.

A visitation for Dawn will be held Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home, 10501 Garland Road, Dallas, TX 75218. A funeral service will occur Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM, 10501 Garland Road, Dallas, TX 75218. A reception will occur Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 10501 Garland Road, Dallas, TX 75218.
