He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Connie Mahmood, his daughters Alyce Bredehoeft, Angel Rivera, Christina Mahmood, and his siblings Sheila Lindstrom and her husband John, Kenneth Mahmood and Dennis Mahmood and his wife Penny.
He is preceded in death by his son, David Joseph Mahmood Jr. and his brother Daniel Mahmood.
David attended high school at Cretin Military Academy and St. Thomas College in St. Paul. David's business career spanned over five decades. His corporate career was spent in marketing and industrial engineering positions at Stancraft Products, and the largest specialty advertising company, Brown & Bigelow, where he was Vice President of Sales and Marketing. David was a self professed "serial entrepreneur"; he started eight companies from scratch in a wide variety of industries and products. David's final legacy is Allegiance Capital Corporation, a Dallas based boutique investment bank. David founded Allegiance Capital with Connie by his side in 1998.
David's enduring influence and mentorship was integral in launching the careers of many investment banking professionals. He has served on numerous boards and industry groups and has received many honors, most recently as one of the "Top 500 Most Powerful Business Leaders in Dallas."
David's generosity and giving spirit was rooted in his Catholic faith and the values he learned from his parents. Over his long life, he touched the lives of many people with his kindness, generosity and his joy for life. He loved to entertain family, friends and business colleagues, and he will be fondly remembered for his colorful stories where he shared his vast and varied life experiences.
Visitation and Life Celebration will be held at Calvary Hill Funeral Home on Sunday, April 8 from 2:00pm to 7:00pm.
The Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at St. Rita Catholic Community on Monday, April 9 at 10:00am.
David lived with, and battled heart disease for over thirty years. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the American Heart Association in his memory.
